Forum 2020

10th SCTO Forum

Research on research: from starting blocks to finishing line

On 29 January 2020, the SCTO hosted its 10th Forum, held in Bern. For ten years now, we’ve been bringing together our stakeholders in clinical research in Switzerland to network, learn, debate, and ask questions in open and regular gatherings. The SCTO Forum 2020 brought them the topic of Research on Research (RoR).

All of us in science and society depend on clinical research. For any potential healthcare intervention ultimately to be useful to the public, it must first have undergone and passed a thorough and effective evaluation. Yet, we’ve observed that much research does not stay the course from starting blocks to finishing line. We need Research on Research (RoR): when research itself undergoes research, to give it the necessary planning, discipline, and stamina to help it perform to its maximum.

How is this done abroad? What is the opinion of Swiss stakeholders on RoR? Do they have concrete projects in mind that could improve clinical research? Close to 70 participants tackled these and other important questions on 29 January 2020 in Bern.

A detailed report, the programme and the presentations of the SCTO Forum 2020 can be downloaded further below.
