The SCTO is an independent organisation and is based on a joint initiative of the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences.

As of 2017, the SCTO is a research infrastructure of national importance funded by the State Secretariat of Education, Research and Innovation and the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Our mission

The SCTO and its Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) Network provide high-quality integrated support and expertise for academic clinical research, across all medical disciplines, to deliver new and better therapies to society.

*The Clinical Trial Units (CTUs) provide all the services needed for clinical research projects to run smoothly. In 2007 the CTUs formed a network, which now represents a well-established and nationally coordinated clinical research infrastructure.
